What a massage with Marquesa feels like
In her words: “I give medical massage that doesn’t feel clinical. It’s a lot more connected and nurturing.” After almost 20 years of practice, she has learned that results don’t require maximum force, so she usually works at a 2-3 out of 5 and goes deeper when you ask. She often ends with a light face and scalp massage that drains the face, erases the face-cradle mark, and “wraps the session up in a nice, blissful bow.”
Marquesa especially loves working with
- Prenatal clients
- People preparing for, or recovering from, surgery or an injury
- Motivated clients willing to take part in their own improvement, including stretches and habit changes
- TMJ and intraoral work
- First-timers who have never had bodywork, including teens and children (with a parent’s permission)
How Marquesa works
She starts with your comfort: the table, the face cradle, whether you’re warm enough. Then she spends the first few minutes tuning in to your nervous system and warming the tissue. She likes a little conversation, because it tells her how you’re doing (politics excluded). She checks pressure once or twice early, then reads your body: if you tense up or hold your breath, she adjusts.
Techniques: Deep Lomi Thai Fusion · deep tissue · medical and therapeutic massage · prenatal massage · face and scalp massage with lymph drainage · cupping · breathing and stretching guidance · intraoral work for TMJ · four-handed massage
Something about Marquesa
She spends as much time as she can in the mountains and on the water. It grounds her, and she sees that groundedness show up in her sessions.
What clients say
“Describe any issue, anywhere with your body, and she will seek it out and treat the matter. In addition, Marquesa gives me pointers on breathing techniques, stretching exercises and cupping.”
David
“She took the time to really listen to what I wanted from my massage and did a great job checking in through out the session. It was a perfect balance of relaxing and restorative.”
